A back-saving strategy I discovered when putting bulk food bags into 5 gallon bukets that can be used for your bulk food or livestock feed

STRATEGIES

Watch this <1 min video on how I slip a heavy bag into a bucket, without having to do an awkward or prolonged hold.

1) Safely lift the bag onto the counter (keep the weight close to you and use both hands. You should feel the lift coming from your leg muscles, not straining your back)

2) Scoot the bag towards you, off the counter a little

3) slip the bucket around the sides of the bag

4) scoot the bag the rest of the way off the counter, into the bucket

5) lower the bucket safely onto a chair or floor, again keeping the weight close to you and using your core muscles, not straining your back

Please note: I have found 20-25lbs tends to be what fits into a 5 gallon bucket. If you buy a 50lb bag you will need two buckets or get a larger storage container. When I buy 50lb feed bags or bulk food bags I prefer to open the bag and split it between two buckets to make them lighter to carry.
